EGU General Assembly 2026
Discover the European Geosciences Union (EGU), Europe’s leading organisation for Earth, planetary, and space science research. With around 20,000 members worldwide, EGU fosters both fundamental and applied research addressing major societal and environmental challenges.
The annual EGU General Assembly is the largest geoscience event in Europe, bringing together over 21,000 scientists in 2025 and continuing to grow. The meeting covers a wide array of topics, including:
- Natural hazards
- Planetary exploration
- Earth’s internal processes
- Atmosphere, hydrology, and biogeosciences
- Climate and ocean sciences
- Energy and resource systems
The General Assembly provides an open, inclusive space for researchers—especially early-career scientists—to present their work, exchange ideas, and collaborate across disciplines. The 2026 edition will once again combine on-site and virtual participation, delivered in partnership with Copernicus Meetings
Founded in 2002 through a merger of the European Geophysical Society and the European Union of Geosciences, EGU also publishes a portfolio of open-access scientific journals, hosts topical conferences, and supports education and outreach. [egu26.eu]
