Deliverable 8.2 – Portfolio of Communication, Dissemination & Outreach Resources
31-07-2025
Deliverables
The objective of Deliverable 8.2 – Portfolio of Communication, Dissemination & Outreach Resources is to facilitate SafeNet’s communication, dissemination, exploitation, and outreach activities by developing a range of tools and resources to promote and raise awareness of the project and its results among stakeholders throughout the project’s duration.

Deliverable 9.2 – SafeNet Preliminary Data Management Plan (DMP)
31-07-2025
Deliverables
This Deliverable D9.2 Preliminary DMP (Data Management Plan) will be a baseline for the SafeNet DMP living document to be updated over the course of the project and the evolution of project activities. The SafeNet DMP serves as the comprehensive framework for the management of existing and new research data collected, processed, produced, and re-used by the Safeguarding Biodiversity and Carbon-rich Forest Networks in Europe (SafeNet) project funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation framework programme.

SafeNet Zenodo Community Page
08-01-2026
Repository
SafeNet has created a dedicated Zenodo Community where project results, publications, and datasets will be made freely accessible as they become available. This community ensures open access to SafeNet outputs, supports transparency and reuse of project results, and helps make knowledge generated by the project available to researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and other stakeholders.
Deliverable 3.1 – Adopted land use scenarios with predicted forest expansion maps
31-01-2026
Deliverables
The SafeNet deliverable D3.1 “Adopted land use scenarios with predicted forest expansion maps”. The report documents the harmonised scenario boundary conditions (land use, climate, CO₂, plant functional types, and soils) prepared for Europe and adopted for SafeNet modelling to 2100, focusing on a low–mid–high pathway bracket (SSP1-RCP2.6, SSP2-RCP4.5, SSP5-RCP8.5). It provides the data preparation workflow, quality-control approach, and scenario diagnostics (including maps/summary indicators of forest-fraction change and related drivers) to ensure interoperable, model-ready inputs for downstream simulations (notably ORCHIDEE and the G4M-X/GLOBIOM chain), supported by stakeholder validation.

Deliverable 2.2 – Mapping European forest carbon distribution
12-03-2026
Deliverables
The SafeNet deliverable D2.2 “Mapping European forest carbon distribution” provides a high‑resolution map of current forest carbon distribution across Europe. The report brings together harmonised datasets on above‑ and belowground biomass and soil properties to generate integrated carbon density maps for 2020 at 100 × 100 m resolution. It documents the workflow for combining NFI‑aligned biomass data, climate‑ and phylogeny‑specific carbon fractions, regression‑based belowground estimates, and soil organic carbon from HoliSoils and peat datasets. The analysis shows that European forests stored an estimated 37 Gt of carbon in 2020, with soils representing the largest pool. The maps offer a transparent baseline for identifying carbon‑rich forest ecosystems and supporting downstream modelling and assessments within SafeNet.
