MoniFun

MoniFun is an EU‑funded Horizon Europe project working to co‑create a harmonised European Forest Multifunctionality Monitoring System. The project addresses gaps caused by fragmented forest data by integrating information from multiple sources, including national forest inventories, remote sensing and existing platforms. Through close collaboration with experts, policymakers and other stakeholders, MoniFun identifies shared information needs and develops harmonised indicators to monitor forest resources, biodiversity, climate impacts and ecosystem services. Its work lays the foundation for improved, real‑time forest monitoring and future ecosystem service forecasts to support evidence‑based forest policy and sustainable forest management in Europe.
