FORWARDS

FORWARDS is an EU-funded project that is developing the ForestWard Observatory, a new tool to provide timely, detailed information on how climate change affects European forest resilience. The project combines ground-based data, remote sensing, and innovative “Monitoring Supersites” to better understand forest disturbances. FORWARDS generates evidence-based guidance for climate‑smart forestry, ecosystem restoration, and biodiversity protection, helping forest managers and policymakers plan for healthier, more resilient forests across Europe.
