This Romanian case study focuses on a diverse forest landscape near the city of Brașov. The forests are managed by a mix of public and private owners and are valued for their environmental benefits, such as clean water, air, and recreation. SafeNet is working with stakeholders – mainly local municipalities, public and private forest owners, governmental agencies, timber processing companies and an NGO – to explore future management options that support biodiversity and climate goals, while also respecting the needs of local communities.
